Jul 2    Hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse

The trail to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is open to 20 hikers on Wednesday with a departure time of 9 AM and a return time of 1 PM. Reservations are strongly encouraged to avoid being turned away at the trailhead. Reservations need to be made two weeks in advance of the hike.

The hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is 3.75 miles and moderately strenuous with uneven terrain, steep cliffs and grades, narrow trails, and crumbling earth. Sturdy hiking shoes are required.

An admission fee of $5 per adult will be required of those accessing the Lighthouse Headkeeper's quarters tour. The rest of the site and buildings can be visited at no charge. Children under 12 are free. This fee supports the work of the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers' restoring, maintaining, and operating visitor services at this Historic Site.

As the roosters roam and crow around the Arroyo Grande City Hall building, you really get the feeling of country at this downtown market. Artists are selling their wares by the creek-side and musicians fill the air with music.

The setting couldn’t be a more enticing venue to stroll through Farmers’ Market and stock up for the week with the freshest and most abundant produce around. It’s located right at the footbridge in old downtown Arroyo Grande, giving this country market a small urban-like feel.

Every Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., come sample the Farm Fresh Produce & Flowers, Art Show and Live Entertainment in the Parking Lot at 215 East Branch Street. We offer a veritable symphony of freshly grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants. The market also features quality items from local artists. All artists are participating members of the distinguished El Camino Art Association.

As the roosters roam and crow around the Arroyo Grande City Hall building, you really get the feeling of country at this downtown market. Artists are selling their wares by the creek-side and musicians fill the air with music.

The setting couldn’t be a more enticing venue to stroll through Farmers’ Market and stock up for the week with the freshest and most abundant produce around. It’s located right at the footbridge in old downtown Arroyo Grande, giving this country market a small urban-like feel.

Every Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., come sample the Farm Fresh Produce & Flowers, Art Show and Live Entertainment in the Parking Lot at 215 East Branch Street. We offer a veritable symphony of freshly grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants. The market also features quality items from local artists. All artists are participating members of the distinguished El Camino Art Association.

Jul 16    Hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse

The trail to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is open to 20 hikers on Wednesday with a departure time of 9 AM and a return time of 1 PM. Reservations are strongly encouraged to avoid being turned away at the trailhead. Reservations need to be made two weeks in advance of the hike.

The hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is 3.75 miles and moderately strenuous with uneven terrain, steep cliffs and grades, narrow trails, and crumbling earth. Sturdy hiking shoes are required.

An admission fee of $5 per adult will be required of those accessing the Lighthouse Headkeeper's quarters tour. The rest of the site and buildings can be visited at no charge. Children under 12 are free. This fee supports the work of the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers' restoring, maintaining, and operating visitor services at this Historic Site.

Jul 19 - Jul 20    Portuguese Festival

Portuguese Celebration will assemble to celebrate an over 700 year-old tradition brought from the Azores by pioneering Portuguese families. This weekend celebration will take place at the Veterans Memorial Building at the foot of the pier in Cayucos, CA.

The festivities will begin Saturday the 14th at 6pm with Linguica Sandwiches ($5 until sold out). Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30pm. Dancing by Lightning & Whispers (Traditional Portuguese Folk Dance and American music) from 7:00 to 11:00pm, with Grand March showcasing the queens at 8:00pm. All of these events are open to the public.

Sunday the 15th will commence at the Veterans Building with the parade of Queens and their courts, from all over California at 10:30am. The parade will march to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for 11:00am mass where the coronation Senior and Junior Queen will take place. These 2012 queens will lead the parade back to the Veterans Building where there will be a BBQ from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The BBQ is $15 a plate (Top block and all the trimmings). The auction will begin at 2:00pm with the raffle drawing following the auction.

Last Saturday in July — One of the largest car shows on the Central Coast draws enthusiasts from around the state! Hundreds of cars, including everything from hot rods, muscle cars and trucks to motorcycles and vintage trailers fill the Village for the Annual Arroyo Grande Car Sho (yes, it's spelled 'Sho'). On Friday night the cars will cruise Grand Avenue, between Halcyon and Courtland.
 

Cars are on display throughout the Village. Activities take place around the gazebo. A Best in Show, Major's and President's trophy are awarded along with dozens of others for various categories.

The show is a fund-raiser presented by the Arroyo Valley Car Club, although no admission is charged for the public. Proceeds from entry fees, a raffle and other activities are donated by the club to help charitable organizations in the South County.
