Apr 8 Arlo Guthrie's 50th Anniversary of Alice's Restaurant |
For the first time in a decade, Folk icon Arlo Guthrie brings The Alice's Restaurant Massacree to the stage in its entirety. The Massacree became anthemic for the anti war movement of the Vietnam era. However, Guthrie has said, "It was not an anti-war song; it was an anti-stupid song." Because of its length (approx. 18 minutes), Arlo only adds the complete song to his touring menu on the 10 year anniversaries. The Alice's Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour will feature the full Massacree along with many favorites from Arlo's catalog. Following this two year tour, it is likely The Alice's Restaurant Massacree will again be removed from the menu. "I will do it again for the 60th anniversary, or I will be dead." Which ever comes first, says Guthrie. |

Apr 29 Hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse |
The trail to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is open to 20 hikers on Wednesday with a departure time of 9 AM and a return time of 1 PM. Reservations are strongly encouraged to avoid being turned away at the trailhead. Reservations need to be made two weeks in advance of the hike.
The hike to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is 3.75 miles and moderately strenuous with uneven terrain, steep cliffs and grades, narrow trails, and crumbling earth. Sturdy hiking shoes are required.
An admission fee of $5 per adult will be required of those accessing the Lighthouse Headkeeper's quarters tour. The rest of the site and buildings can be visited at no charge. Children under 12 are free. This fee supports the work of the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers' restoring, maintaining, and operating visitor services at this Historic Site.
