Community Invited to Share Soup, Bread & Hope at 5Cities Homeless Coalition’s Annual Empty Bowls
Arroyo Grande, CA — September 9th, 2025 — The community is invited to gather in support of neighbors in need at 5Cities Homeless Coalition’s annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, a cherished event that brings together local restaurants, chefs, and volunteers to raise awareness and critical funds for homelessness prevention and housing programs in South San Luis Obispo County.
Empty Bowls features a simple, meaningful meal of soup and bread, donated by dozens of local restaurants and served by community volunteers. Each guest takes home a handcrafted bowl, made and donated by local artists and students, as a reminder of the empty bowls in our community.
“Empty Bowls is more than just a meal,” said Janna Nichols, Executive Director of 5Cities Homeless Coalition. “It’s a community-wide effort to fill the empty bowls of our neighbors, offering hope and resources to those facing homelessness.”
